If you can use a 3-D printer to make a gun, a bill introduced in Illinois would make you get a license as a manufacturer.

“It’s much ado about nothing,” said National Rifle Association lobbyist Todd Vandermyde. “You’ve got a fictitious problem that legislators are trying to gin up a bunch of media frenzy about.”

In a news release, sponsoring State Sen. Ira Silverstein (D-Chicago) says, “A gun is a gun,” adding that all the bill does is close a loophole. Vandermyde says it’s just more sour grapes from the people who were on the losing side in court and in the legislature over concealed-carry.

“You have a certain group of individuals that probably should be seeking mental health treatment for their denial,” Vandermyde said.
