A Chicago man is facing formal charges for attempted murder after he allegedly shot Illinois State Police trooper Kody Green during a traffic stop in Springfield.
37-year-old Cristobal Santana is facing six counts, including two counts of attempted murder and multiple battery charges according to our news partners at WAND TV.
Springfield police and other departments responded to the 1600 block of Toronto Road Tuesday at 10:44 p.m. to reports of an officer shot. Santana ran from the scene but was captured around 2 a.m. Wednesday. He is also wanted in connection with a recent homicide in Chicago.
