Expect more construction along Interstate 72 for most of the construction season.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says starting Tuesday, I-72 from east of I-55 to east of Overpass Road will be under construction. Crews will patch, mill and overlay existing roads. They’ll also work to fix bridges carrying Mechanicsburg and Overpass roads over the interstate.
Work is expected to last through late fall and will cost nearly $15 million.
