At Tuesday night’s Springfield City Council meeting, Alderwoman Lakeisha Purchase reminded everyone that convention and event season is just around the corner in the Capitol City. She asked Corporation Council Greg Moredock what the status is on the Downtown Wyndham Hotel.

He said Springfield is still open and operating then handed the floor to Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Scott Dahl.

“Our team at the Bureau (SCVB) is seasoned”, and he mentioned they have over 200 years of tourism experience and they are not panicking. He told City Council they started working on the problem last Thursday as soon as the closure was announced.

Alderman Shawn Gregory asked Dahl if he had any idea on when the Wyndham might reopen for business.

He said Wyndham Management is looking at 90 days and his office has been in communication with anyone who “lands” in that period.

Springfield Police continue their investigation into vandalism that occurred at the Wyndham, which was shut down last Thursday after being declared unfit for occupancy.
