With the price of a gallon a gas jumping 20-cents in less than 24-hours, Triple-A spokesperson Beth Mosher says station owners aren’t making as much money as you may think.
“Nobody is not going to believe but, it is the absolute truth. When prices are higher, that is when gas station profits are smallest. They are going to make more on a bag of Doritos they are going to sell than a gallon of gas they are going to sell you” according to Mosher.
Mosher says the price hike is typical this time of year as refineries switch out to the “summer blend” but the hike this time is higher than normal.
She expects prices to drop slowly in the next few weeks and notes a gallon of gas costs less this year than last.
