Springfield Public Schools’ severance package with former superintendent Walter Milton was a secret, and that’s wrong, says the attorney general’s office. The SJ-R reports the attorney general’s office has found District 186 violated the Open Meetings Act when board members signed the agreement before any of it became public. The original ruling by a local judge was that it shouldn’t be considered final action, but the judge also asked the attorney general to look at it further. There will be no fine or other penalty.
