How it all started (radio)
My high school had a radio station WRTE, and I had an older brother four years ahead of me in school who was in radio. I would go watch him do radio at WRTE and I caught the radio fever.
How it’s going
After radio stints in Alton, Carbondale, Vandalia and a couple of others, I landed in Decatur at WSOY, where I met my wife (who is also in radio) and we moved to Springfield in the Spring of 1998 where she worked at WTAX, and I worked at Cool 101.9. I currently host the Morning Newswatch on WTAX and do afternoons on Rewind 93.5, and she works at Horace Mann and hosts the morning show at NPR Illinois.
My favorite local hobby
I love the local theater scene. There is incredible talent in the area, and I have been able to be on stage at several venues around town in a few productions.
My favorite local event
I love the Illinois State Fair. It shocks me when I talk with folks who live in Springfield who say they have never been.
My family
My wife and I met at WSOY in Decatur and were dating within about a week-and-a-half. We now have three kids, 19, 21 and 23 and a new puppy named Ripley.
Where I came from
I grew up in Cahokia, Illinois in the Metro East. From where I lived, you could see the Arch and hear the fireworks when a Cardinal hit a homerun.
My hidden talent or claim to fame
While I don’t play much anymore, I am a percussionist, and love to play my drums.
