Police say they made three arrests in the burglary Wednesday morning of a vacant house along Route 123 near Athens Junior High School.

After three hours of trying to contact the people inside, Sangamon County sheriff Jack Campbell says officers finally got in and arrested three people from Springfield. They are Christopher Boelling, 34; Carolyn Guthrie, 33; and Rusty Morrison, 44, all of Springfield.

Campbell says the state police K-9 unit helped, as did police from Athens, Sherman, and Williamsville.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters Celebrate Donation

Springfield Clinic continues it’s year-long celebration of their 75th anniversary.

CEO Randy Bryant presented the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Springfield with sporting event tickets and craft supplies for their summer program Friday.

“They have a quality vision and it matches what we are trying to do.  They are are a great organization and it rings true with what we are trying to do,” says Bryant.

Through their “Give75” campaign, one non-profit is chosen each month and the clinic provides key needs.

Bryant says the clinic’s mission matches those of Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

Club director Lisa Rayke says she is surprised and says many of the kids have never seen a sporting event.  Members of the Sliders, Springfield Foxes football team and the Mid-State Mayhem roller-derby crew were on hand Friday for the presentation.
