A long vacant building could soon be another key to revitalizing downtown Springfield.
Mayor Mike Houston has put together a committee to come up with ideas for redeveloping the area surrounding the YWCA building downtown.
“It is my hope the committee will come up with a new, transformative name for this block,” Houston says. “In time, this block could be a hub for economic development for downtown Springfield.”
Members of the committee include area architects and other familiar names like Karen Conn and Carolyn Oxtoby who have been working to breathe some life into the central business district.
