The public will likely get a chance to weigh in on potential zoning changes as medical marijuana rules take effect.
The city council passed a resolution requesting the planning and zoning commission hold public hearings before making zoning changes. Current state statutes say cultivation centers can’t be within 2,500 feet of a school, dispensaries 1,000 feet.
The city isn’t close to adopting its own rules, but when it does, it can’t circumvent state rules already in place.
