You may think big box stores have an image problem when it comes to identity theft but according to one Springfield alderman, you may want to think twice before pressing the “send” button when e-mailing a city council member.
During budget hearings Tuesday night, Alderman Cory Jobe questioned why the Houston administration is using an outside vendor for internal e-mail upgrades.
“A concern I have with this is what is this third party vendor doing with constituent information. So the general public who is e-mailing city hall to get to an alderman, what is the third party vendor doing with that information they are collection. Common sense could possibly indicate they could be selling that information” says Jobe.
Jobe says he thinks e-mail meant for him is being screened. He says often-times a constituent will get a response from the city before he sees it.
