Hillsboro police are announcing the arrest of a suspect in the Friday afternoon attempted armed robbery at the Hardees restaurant in Hillsboro.
The suspect initially entered the restaurant, displayed a handgun and demanded money from a counter clerk but when a manager shouted for the man to leave he left.
Police began searching the area for a man described by witnesses and spoke with people who had seen the suspect several blocks away on foot.
Later the same evening a person matching the description was located and detained at a Casey’s General Store in Hillsboro.
A consent search of a residence discovered items linking the man to the crime.
21 year old Danien D. Taylor of Florissant, MO was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Jail.
