Springfield fire investigators have had their hands full lately; crews responded to another east side blaze Tuesday morning.
It comes less than 24 hours after they battled a fire across the street on White City Blvd., which displaced a man and killed one of his pet dogs.
Springfield Fire Chief Ken Fustin says crews were called to the home on 24th St. just north of Clear Lake Ave. around 9:30 Tuesday morning and had it out within about 20 minutes. No one was injured and the house was unoccupied at the time, Fustin says it was being renovated in preparation for new tenants.
He says the fire likely isn’t connected to a series of other fires in the area being investigated as arson, and this one was likely accidental.
