The Ball-Chatham school board has reached an out-of-court settlement with a parents’ group that sued the district to obtain documents about an investigation into former Superintendent Robert Gillum.
However, board president Rick Petermeyer says the investigation into Gillum’s alleged misuse of school money continues.
“We wanted to make sure we fully investigated to protect the district. Some documents were prepared in preparation of legal (action) and Better Chatham Schools group FOIA’d some of those documents,” according to Petermeyer.
Petermeyer would not comment on a possible federal investigation into the use of district credit cards by Gillum but says new controls have been put in place to prevent future mishandling of money.
