The man charged with beating an 8-month old baby to death in Beardstown has been officially charged.
Police charged Jose Nieto-Roman, 28, with two counts of murder and one count of aggravated battery to a child. Roman was the live-in boyfriend. An autopsy found the baby suffered from blunt force trauma and third degree burns.
Nieto-Roman was being held in the Morgan County Jail for child endangerment, he was hospitalized for several days recovering from self-inflicted stab wounds. Bond has now been set at $5 million.
