The higher ed landscape in Springfield is changing. Benedictine University is taking itself out of the undergrad game in the Springfield market, saying it’s financially unsustainable. The reasons include a growth in adult higher ed and a drop in the 18-22 year old population. The so-called traditional undergraduate programs will end after the spring semester. An e-mail from Benedictine, which is offering transfers to its other campuses, says the board of trustees approved the decision Thursday.
