A Bloomington man has been acquitted of firing a gun at a police officer in March.
Baily Pontius, 18, was found not guilty. The judge decreed there was no evidence that Pontius “attempted to discharge the weapon in the direction” of Bloomington police officer Scott Wold.
Pontius surrendered to police when they found him west of the city with a loaded handgun after his mother reported Pontius and the gun missing from their home. He was convicted of possession of a stolen gun, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a gun without a permit.
