The Sangamon County Coroner is confirming the death of a 42 year-old Jacksonville man found deceased in his vehicle near the Lost Bridge Trail, just off of Interstate 55, yesterday morning.

The Coroner’s Office responded and pronounced the man deceased at the scene at 8:45am.

An autopsy is being done today and the identification of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification. The incident is under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.

Police found a body in a car in Springfield Wednesday afternoon. They say it’s being investigated as a homicide.

Springfield police say U.S. Marshals were making an arrest in the 1900 block of Cornell Avenue when they noticed what they described as a suspicious vehicle in the alley.
