The budget which passed the Springfield city council Tuesday is one fire chief Brandon Blough (pictured) could go so far as to call transformative for his department.

“I think the mayor’s vision on this was that while we have the money to go forth with three stations, that this is the right time to do so,” Blough told aldermen. “Obviously, we have a lot of facilities that are sixty years old or older.”

The council agreed to build three fire houses and purchase six fire engines and one fire truck.

The library, on the other hand, did not get as good of news, as a bookmobile will have to wait until next year. The aldermen’s rationale was that the vehicle would take nine months to arrive after being ordered.
