Springfield city treasurer Misty Buscher wants to become mayor.
Buscher says one of the biggest complaints about incumbent Jim Langfelder, who is seeking a third term, is communication.
“I hear a lot of complaints from the business community,” Buscher tells WTAX News. “They feel they don’t get prompt return calls from different areas of the city of Springfield, and our aldermen have been complaining of (a lack of) communication on the administrative level for them to be able to make decisions on behalf of the citizens.”
Buscher says too often, aldermen are learning about an issue just as it hits the floor, rather than getting vital information beforehand.
Buscher praises Memorial Health as an economic engine for the city and suggests the medical organization and the city can learn from one another for the city to improve economic development, which she says has lagged under Langfelder. “Take a look around. There has not been any giant growth of workplace development, workforces.”
Buscher says bringing more jobs to town will lead to “a more fun space, because with people coming and with jobs coming comes the opportunity for the ability to have fun events.”
