The Democratic challenger in an Illinois congressional race says the Republican-passed budget is all wrong.
Ann Callis says Medicare, under the budget fronted by U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), “changes from an earned benefit to an earned contribution, putting the burden on our seniors.”
If Callis, of Edwardsville, unseats U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville) and gets to Washington, how will Speaker John Boehner (R-Oh.) greet her intent to scrap the ideas of the House Budget Committee chairman?
“Well, I hope he’d be polite and say, let’s start working together!” said Callis, who added her approach to improving Madison County as a judge there was non-partisan – “I put the best person on those committees to get the job done.”
What makes her think Boehner will be even a little open-minded to her? “Well, I don’t know. You’ll have to ask him,” she said.
