Sangamon, Logan, and Menard counties have discovered their first instances of the tree-killing beetle. Christian County has not seen the beetle but has been added to the list because it borders by counties that do have the infestation.
Officials are trying to stop the spread of the pest by banning the transfer of firewood from the quarantined counties. 62 of Illinois’ 102 counties have reported the invasion.
