The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce has fired its executive director after he’d been on the job for a year and a half.
The chairman of the Chamber’s board of directors, Tom Fitch, says Steward Sandstrom is a great guy but his skill set doesn’t match the mission moving forward — renewing a focus on local businesses.
“We want to emphasize that even more going forward into the future,” says Fitch. “Through that process we determined Steward’s skills and strengths weren’t necessarily aligned with that focus.”
Sandstrom came to Springfield from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Fitch says the board will likely look for someone with more local ties.
