Hundreds of proponents of Illinois Agriculture and its future packed into the Illinois State Library Wednesday morning for the 54th Annual Legislative Agriculture Day.
Legislators, lobbyists, activists and a lot of energetic young people were on hand to hear from a half dozen speakers who talked about the importance of Illinois Agriculture to the state and the importance of insuring IL Ag stays strong into the future.
Speakers included Lt. Governor Julianna Stratton and Illinois Ag Director Jerry Costello as well as State Senators Doris Turner and Win Stoller and IL County Fair Queen Natalie Evans.
After the speeches members of FFA and 4H descended on the Capitol to visit with lawmakers and let them know they need to support Illinois farmers and ag related businesses and work to make sure future generations are getting the education and tools they need for success.
