For many young adults, their memories of 9-11 are a bit hazy but several students at Glenwood High School in Chatham marked the day in a solemn manner Thursday.

Senior Mark Bartolozzi organized some fellow students and they decorated their pickups with the American flag and parked them together in the school lot.

Bartolozzi says the events 13 years ago could not be understood by a then 5-year old but he understands now.

“I was a little too young but I remember we had a television in the classroom on and we were quiet.  The whole class was silent.  And then we were let out early which we thought then was awesome,” says Bartolozzi.

Bartolozzi says Glenwood teachers incorporate lesson plans into the day every September 11th to ensure the next generation understands how the world changed that  day.

“In world history class, we had a lesson and I thought it was phenomonal.  We then used that lesson for reports and other assignments during the week,” recalls Bartolozzi.  “Even though we are just kids to some, we are patriotic and we understand.”
