Prosecutors say a man accused of shooting to death a Chicago special education teacher as she sat in a South Side office admitted to investigators that when he fired from across the street he was aiming at a man driving by.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office says a prosecutor on Thursday alleged in court that 23-year-old Dominique Hodrick fired several times on May 29. One bullet pierced a wall of a real estate office and struck 58-year-old Betty Howard in the chest, severing her aorta.
Another bullet grazed a man in the office and another grazed a woman on the street.
Hodrick is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and other charges. He was ordered held without bail. It wasn’t immediately known if Hodrick has obtained legal representation.
