With the deadline looming, Get Covered America is partnering with District 186 to help families in the area sign up for health care under Affordable Care Act.
Scott Cross with the program says one major misconception is the program will be too expensive.
“Almost 77% of people in Illinois who signed up have received some sort of financial assistance on a varying scale” says Cross.
Saturday’s event at Harvard Park Elementary School will have counselors available to sit down with individuals or families and assist them in navigating through the process. Cross says basic identification and any income documentation is all that is needed. The event begins at 10am and runs through 4pm tomorrow (Saturday).
Other sites that provide assistance include the Sangamon County Health Department and the Urban League Monday-Friday. The deadline to enroll is March 31st.
