Applications to grow medical pot should be available soon.

Project Coordinator for Medical Cannabis Bob Morgan says now that the Illinois Legislature has finalized rules on how and where cultivation centers and dispensaries will be located, he hopes the program will prove to lawmakers that marijuana for certain patients improves quality of life.

“It is going to be a factor whether people’s lives will be better. Whether we are enriching these individuals who suffer from delibitating medical conditions. Including pain and nausea,” says Morgan. “Beyond that, we have a number of other benchmarks we will establish show the legislature and the public that that we can do this safely.”

Up to 21 cultivation centers and 60 dispensaries can be opened in the state.
