Workforce development was on Gov. JB Pritzker’s mind when he visited the Peoria campus of Illinois Central College Tuesday. He also is scheduled to visit Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield Wednesday.
The Workforce Equity Initiative is already on display, having enrolled some 5,000 Illinoisans. And the governor announced another proposal, the Pipeline for Advancement of the Healthcare Workforce – PATH.
Peoria Mayor Rita Ali said it’s not a workforce shortage, it’s a skills shortage hampering the state.
The visit was part of Pritzker’s intention to invest in higher education.
