Springfield, IL. (WTAX) – A fifteen-year-old mystery seems to have been solved, at least somewhat.

Skeletal remains discovered during a home remodel in the 2100 block of S. Grand have been identified by the Sangamon County Coroner as those of Michelle Bianco of Springfield.

Homeowners found a purse with documents showing it belonged to Ms. Bianco buried in the crawlspace under their home. That led to the discovery of her decomposed body.

Ms. Bianco was reported missing a decade and a half ago in the East Side area where the remains were discovered.

After the postmortem examination Tuesday the official cause and manner of death is still pending additional studies.

The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office and the Sangamon County Coroner.
