A New Berlin man is dead following a single vehicle crash near Waverly.
The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office says Damien Crews, 35, was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 12000 block of Waverly Road. Crews went off the road, hit a culvert and went airborne, landing on the roof. He was trapped in the car and had to be extricated.
The coroner says Crews likely died from blunt force trauma.
Reconstructionists are on the scene trying to figure out why the car left the road. Crews had no passengers.
