A 40-year-old bicyclist was killed after being struck by a southbound Amtrak train at around 11 o’clock Tuesday night.
It happened at 6th Street and North Grand Avenue, where witnesses reported seeing a man headed eastbound and attempting to go around the crossing arms.
The case is being investigated by Springfield Police detectives, Amtrak Police, and Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon.
