U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville) survived a challenge from Urbana lawyer and onetime Miss America Erika Harold and Moro veterinarian Michael Firsching to claim the Republican nomination to run again for his seat.

He’ll face former judge Ann Callis of Edwardsville, who won a three-way race in the Democratic primary against George Gollin and David Green.

Davis and Callis each drew 54 percent of the vote.

Davis praised Firsching’s tenacity and Harold’s ability to attract new voters to the Republicans. He was appointed to the ballot after the 2012 primary and narrowly defeated a Bloomington physician.

In another attention-getting race, State Rep. Darlene Senger (R-Naperville) emerged from a four-way primary for the privilege of taking on U. S. Rep. Bill Foster (D-Naperville). She won 38 percent of the vote.
