Springfield, IL – The first of three bids has been approved for the addition and renovation project at Springfield High School.  The District 186 School Board approved the bid of just over $12.6 million at their meeting Tuesday. The bid covers precast walls, switch gear and demolition at both the Springfield High School site and some leftover demolition at Lanphier.

Superintendent Jennifer Gill says the first bid was to cover some preliminary things that take time to secure including the precast walls for the gymnasium and the switch gears for the electrical system that are often made overseas.  The bid features a guaranteed maximum price component, meaning the district would not be responsible for anything over the approved bid amount. O’Shea Builders will oversee the project. Gill expects construction to start late summer or early fall.
