The lighting of the Holiday Tree will be the official kick off for the downtown Memorial Holiday Fest on Saturday.
The events will begin at 11 a.m. with a performance by the Springfield Youth Performance Group and a visit from Santa Claus at the Old State Capitol.
Then at 11:45 the lighting of the 10 foot tall, one-of-a-kind display featuring Santa and Lincoln.
At noon performances by the Illinois Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Illinois State Museum.
Then at 4 p.m. Speeches from dignitaries, the arrival of Santa Claus and the official tree lighting at around 5:20 at the Old State Capitol.
