Springfield Police say an east side shooting last week might be related to Wednesday’s drive-by on Stevenson Drive that caused a car accident.

Witnesses told police someone in a white car, maybe a Pontiac Grand Prix, opened fire around 5:15 at another vehicle, which then crashed into a pickup truck.  A pedestrian was hit in the foot by a stray bullet.

The white car was seen circling the area before the shooting, so police don’t think it’s random. They say those involved with this week’s shootings on 16th street might be connected.

In that Tuesday incident, a man went to St. John’s Hospital after being shot in the foot. This was around the same time police were investigating a shots fired report near 16th and Stuart. The man’s car, which had a bullet hole and blood inside, was impounded. He cooperated and identified the shooter.
