Henson Robinson Zoo hosted the 2022 Earth Awareness Fair Saturday, a chance for families to enjoy abundant sunshine, zoo animals, games, contests, and a free-trees giveaway.
The no-cost event, put on by the city in partnership with the Springfield Park District, even featured a mobile pet adoption unit for anyone keen to take an animal home.
Springfield Park Board President Leslie Sgro was there to enjoy the fun. “We partnered up with the City of Springfield and various departments and the State of Illinois, DNR and the Conservation Police and their fisheries department. It’s an amazing event, where both kids and their parents and grandparents can maybe learn a bit more about Mother Earth and what they can do to help.”
Sgro points out that the Springfield Park District maintains land, water, and nature preserves where folks can celebrate Earth Day awareness anytime.
