Some Enos Park homeowners and their attorney are taking neighborhood revitalization into their own hands… by suing.
Springfield attorney Tom Pavlik says he’s already worked with a few clients to clean up the neighborhood through the city’s chronic nuisance statute.
“It essentially allows anyone who owns a property within 1,200 feet of these nuisance properties… think about the Bel-Aire [Motel],” Pavlik said. “The Bel-Aire is your prototypical nuisance property. It would allow a homeowner within 1,200 feet to sue that property owner to force compliance with the dwelling code.”
Pavlik says he’s handled two successful cases so far and threatened a third — but he says the third case immediately cooperated and even joined the neighborhood association.
