Saying the City of Springfield is short-staffed, the Enos Park Neighborhood Association plans to assist the city in identifying properties violating zoning codes.

The association’s Michelle Higginbotham says neighbors are volunteering to go door-to-door to make sure homes are occupied properly and then report back to the zoning department.

“We are going to use our own volunteers to go out and go door-to-door and check properties against city records.  That is one of the things we offered to help the city do” says Higginbotham.

House of Rainbow, which provides transitional housing for ex-prisoners, has lost their zoning variance request and now faces fines.
