Depending on how long you’ve been in Springfield, it’s either a beloved memory for basketball games and concerts … or it’s a hulking eyesore.
Gov. JB Pritzker says $122 million from the state’s current infrastructure program will pay for an overhaul to the Illinois State Armory, which would become the workplace of some 600 state employees.
Springfield-area lawmakers State Sen. Doris Turner (D-Springfield) and State Rep. Tim Butler (R-Springfield) were on hand to share their memories and to praise Gov. Pritzker for preserving the Armory, in disrepair now across Monroe Street from the Capitol.
