A fire at a Springfield apartment complex has displaced two people and caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
Crews were called shortly before 9:00 Monday night to an apartment building at the corner of Spring and Allen.
“Crews arrived to find the apartment fully involved,” said Springfield Fire Chief Ken Fustin. “The call had come in as an oven fire but it had greatly advanced prior to our arrival.”
Fustin says only that apartment was damaged, an adjacent unit suffered minor smoke damage. About $10,000 worth of personal property was damaged, and about $30,000 worth was done to the building.
Fustin says the fire was accidental and the investigation is complete. The Red Cross is helping those displaced.
