There’s a family-friendly way to ring in the new year in Springfield once again this year, and it’s all in downtown Springfield.
The Springfield Area Arts Council is hosting “First Night” Saturday — with live mostly family-friendly entertainment at a number of churches and other venues throughout downtown, according to council president Troy Roark.
“It gives families a chance to do something non-alcoholic with their families and their friends on New Years Eve Night,” says Roark. “It gives us the opportunity to support area artists — performing artists. And that falls in the mission of our group.
Free kids events start at the Springfield High School commons area Saturday at 1pm. Performances in other locations begin at 4. CLICK HERE for a full schedule.
The kids events in the afternoon are free, while the performances cost $20. A fireworks show is free and is at 8pm.
