5 months in prison for a Springfield man who defrauded the government of funds intended for business owners who needed loans because they could not cover fixed costs due to the COVID pandemic.
26 year old Charles Jones applied for an Injury Disaster Loan claiming he ran a business that employed 11 people and had gross revenues of 1.2 million dollars. He did not operate any business or employ anyone.
The fraud was uncovered by a local credit union and the funds were returned to the government.
