There were no shortage of people remembering Bob Murray Wednesday, the day it was learned he’d passed away after a short battle with brain cancer.
Sean Streaty, with our news partners at WAND-TV, started at the Decatur station in 1994 as a reporter and became an anchor in 1996. He remembered only good things.
“He was just a real person, the way he connected personally and with the audience,” said Streaty. “I walk around today, and Bob is still a household name.”
Former Springfield broadcaster Brian Pierce, who’s been in the business about as long as Bob Murray, remembers him as a hard worker and more importantly — a very close friend.
“Bob and I had been just so tight for so long, everybody who knows Bob knows that I always considered him my best radio friend,” Pierce said.
Services for Bob Murray are pending.
