Springfield is assured of at least one new member of the city council after next year’s city election.
Ward 4 Ald. John Fulgenzi (pictured, right) is 74 years old, and his granddaughter Annie says his health is as good as you’d expect for someone who is 74. He’s keeping an eye on his kidney cancer, discovered in 2015.
After eighteen years combined on the Sangamon County board and Springfield city council, he says it’s time to spend more time with the family, including a half dozen grandkids. And, in a statement, he says he’s always available to chat with you at his north end pizza joint, which has been open for 43 years.
