Governor JB Pritzker has signed the fiscal year 2023 budget into law, delivering a balanced budget while providing $1.8 billion in tax relief.
The fiscal year 2023 budget provides funding for education, human services, law enforcement and violence prevention.
It funds pensions at $500 million more than required, repaying the state’s remaining outstanding debts, and putting $1 billion in the Budget Stabilization Fund, also known as the “rainy day” fund.
