A county state’s attorney who died in a weekend accident in Georgia is being remembered as dedicated to his law enforcement career in Hancock County.

The coroner for Georgia’s Dade County confirms Monday that James Drozdz (DROTZ) died Saturday when the vehicle he was driving hit an embankment. An autopsy was performed Sunday and results are pending the outcome of toxicology tests.

Drozdz was elected Hancock County state’s attorney in 2004 and ran unopposed in 2008 and 2012. Previously, he’d taught at Western Illinois University and the Illinois Police Academy. Funeral services are pending.
