The Illinois Department of Natural Resources held an outdoor training seminar the Lindsey Boat Launch on Lake Springfield.
Dozens of professionals, from wildlife biologists to water safety inspectors as well as University students and other IDNR professionals gathered on a sunny Wednesday to learn about small motor repair, launching on the water, safe towing procedures, and go then through their paces on an ‘obstacle course’.
WTAX News spoke with Conservation Police Officer, Colt Gurdes, about the importance of the work. He says not only do they want to ensure the safety of everyone working on Illinois waterways but also make sure professionals can assist the public in an emergency. He called what he does, The Best Job In The World.
