An American who has been a frequent visitor to Nepal has been arrested in the capital’s tourist district on charges of sexually abusing children.
The Central Bureau of Investigations said in a statement Monday that 48-year-old Kenneth Joseph Coombs from Illinois along with a local man were arrested and being held for further investigation.
Five boys were rescued after police raided Coombs’s hotel room in Kathmandu over the weekend. The raid was initiated after police got information from boys who had been abused there.
Other details were not given because the case involved underage victims.
