Springfield Mayor Mike Houston ruffled a few feathers when he decided to seek a second term… that includes those of Sangamon County Auditor Paul Palazzolo, the only person to so far formally challenge Houston in the 2015 municipal election.

Palazzolo is upset the mayor reneged on his one term promise. He points to an important historical figure who could have done the same thing, but didn’t.

“He hated that pledge but Teddy Roosevelt kept that pledge to the voters to voluntarily stay within tradition of terms. Teddy Roosevelt is considered and noble leader and a great president,” says Palazzolo.

Ward 6 Alderman Cory Jobe and city treasurer Jim Langfelder are also mulling runs but haven’t formally announced.
